Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

EAC insurers seek to recover payouts

THE GOVERNMENT is mulling a deal with the insurers of the Vassilikos power plant that would allow the latter to recover from the state €200 million they’ve paid out for damage to the insured part of the facility.

Plaque unveiled in memory of the Mari dead.

A LARGE marble plaque honouring the six firefighters who died in the Mari naval base explosion last July was unveiled yesterday at Fire Station 1 in Larnaca.

“It is our duty to honour these firefighters and with them the other seven (sailors) who lost their lives,” said head of the Retired Firefighters’ Association , Stavros Kyprianou.

We’re coming up to one year since the huge explosion caused by badly stored confiscated ammunitions and I feel it’s going to be a very raw event. There’s still much hostility towards President Christofios who has chosen not to run for another year of office…
