Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

I’m getting a little scared, Paphos is becoming popular…

It’s quite amazing really to think we’ve been living on a permanent basis in Cyprus for more than 10 years now and yet I can probably count the number of occasions we’ve stayed overnight in Paphos on the fingers of one hand!

Suddenly, it seems to be on our list of places to go….

We were there for a single night in November last year (2013) while we had family visitors over from Sydney, Australia but only for a short duration so it was a bit of a whirlwind tour of Cyprus for them. We stayed at the Dionysos Central Hotel on the corner of Poseidonias Avenue near to the seafront (almost opposite Pizza Hut). See below (centre back in the photo…

Then just last month (April) we had a friend over from UK for a couple of weeks “Miss Kathy” – you may have seen reference to her in some of my other posts. So off we went again and stayed just one night at The Annabelle Hotel (a beachfront hotel) and listed as a 5 star hotel in Paphos.

I’m not entirely convinced of the 5 star rating but it was very pleasant overall and we had an interesting experience there exploring tombs – outside of the hotel, in the hotel grounds and surprisingly, also beneath the hotel foundations!

And now it looks like we’re heading westwards again!

We’re off to an amazing first event which I understand will be repeated each weekend for the near future.
Trust me, this news for Cyprus is BIG!

It’s time to vote for Cyprus and GUABA

Guaba – find it on Limassol seafront. It’s where the “in-crowd” go to see and be seen!

I think I just went back to the Eighties!

Or had an out of body experience!

Ever got on the track of something you haven’t seen or heard for sometime and then get completely lost and engrossed in it?

It happened to me today….

I take part every so often in a song chain thread on a particular forum I visit which involves following up with another song that has a word from the previous song posted in the title.

So following up on the song “Strange Brew” by Cream led me to post “People Are Strange” – not by The Doors as you may well imagine but the soundtrack for one of my all time favourite movies “The Lost Boys“. So I posted the track which was covered by Echo & The Bunnymen.

And that’s when I found myself “lost in music” or so to speak.

I came across a whole shed load of Echo tracks on YouTube and abandoned myself with glee🙂

One of my most favourite songs: “The Back of Love“. Just click through the image below to enjoy it!

I got Lost in Music today...

I got Lost in Music today…

Fancy a quick peep at The Lost Boys trailer? Go on, it’s got Kiefer Sutherland in it – it would be very rude not to take a look!

Sorry, I can’t help it….. I really got hooked on 80’s music.

My misspent youth at Legend, a nightclub in Manchester, UK (on Princess Street) every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning each week was the bane of my parent’s life and probably added a few early grey hairs for them wondering what I got up to…..😦

I did go to the Hacienda club on occasion and saw John Foxx (formerly a lead singer with Ultravox) perform there one night, but Legend was definitely the place to be for me! Or, as me and my friends referred to it “Leg Ends”….
