So today was a slightly different Saturday than normal…. mostly we spend it catching up with “stuff to do” on the pc, paperwork and sometimes a little shopping.
Instead, we spent our afternoon at A Taste of Britain coffee shop and delicatessen on the seafront near Parakklesia, Limassol.
We had a tea leaf reading event followed by a veritable feast of sandwiches cut into triangles with the crusts removed, freshly made scones with jam and clotted cream plus a whole host of other cakes and of course, “proper” tea made with tea leaves – no bags to be seen!
Now, a real tea party isn’t a tea party without a hat is it? Mimi, was a willing assistant and eager to try on the hats and choose the winner of the Best Decorated Hat competition:
What was this all about? No, we haven’t all gone suddenly mental because the summer has arrived which means we can expect daily temperatures of 30+ centigrade until the end of August… this weird and wonderful event was a fund raising event for Pound Dogs for Adoption, Limassol and this time to help pay for a flight for one of the larger rescue dogs to go to a new home in UK.
Between us, we managed to raise 164 EUR which will help a great deal towards the relocation costs.
We had our tea leaves read, our food, a quiz, a raffle and a hat competition – then, we went to the beach for a swim before heading off home to our own doggies.
Some photos for you:
A Taste of Britain offers a selection of products and provides a delicatessen experience as well as home cooked meals on site. Some great prices too with such things as: sausage and mash with onion gravy for a mere 5 EUR. Sounds good enough to eat 🙂
