Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

A place to sit and ponder.

We’ve been without a table in our kitchen for quite a while (at least 2 years) since my other half commandeered our original kitchen table to use as his “stamp desk” in the living room. That is a large rectangular 5′ x 3′ six seater pine table which we brought with us from the UK when we arrived in 2004.

We decided recently it might be nice to have a smallish table back in the kitchen as we often used to sit there in the summer months with the back door open for a welcome bit of cooler air. We’ve been on the hunt for just the right one for the last couple of months or so and thought we’d found it the other week but unfortunately, it was a bit more than we wanted to pay.

But last week my husband Clem found just “the one” in our local antique shop just up the road from us. It’s square when closed up but has 2 extending leaves. The chairs needed to be re-upholstered and all the woodwork on the chairs and table needed to be renovated, re-stained and re-polished.

Sadly I don’t have any photos of the “before” but look at it now after our friend Omiros has worked his magic on our set in his Cyprus antiques shop!

Polished and ready for action.

Re-upholstered chair from front. See those spindly legs – any idea what type it is or how old?

Antique with a twist.

Now we’re all set for entertaining our friend Kathy when she arrives next weekend. Woo Hoo!

  1. Looks great Michele.Brings back memories, i grew up with an identical one.Beats an Ikea or Argos one hands down 🙂

    • We’ve had a couple of chairs (soft bucket style ones) there for a while but it’s not the same without a table. This one was acquired by Clem and Omiros fully renovated it so now it’s looking quite fab.
Got another couple of photos (just taken a few minutes ago) as we’ve moved some pictures in and a large clock. I will put them up shortly… on facebook.
      Paris has arrived!
