We’ve been without a table in our kitchen for quite a while (at least 2 years) since my other half commandeered our original kitchen table to use as his “stamp desk” in the living room. That is a large rectangular 5′ x 3′ six seater pine table which we brought with us from the UK when we arrived in 2004.
We decided recently it might be nice to have a smallish table back in the kitchen as we often used to sit there in the summer months with the back door open for a welcome bit of cooler air. We’ve been on the hunt for just the right one for the last couple of months or so and thought we’d found it the other week but unfortunately, it was a bit more than we wanted to pay.
But last week my husband Clem found just “the one” in our local antique shop just up the road from us. It’s square when closed up but has 2 extending leaves. The chairs needed to be re-upholstered and all the woodwork on the chairs and table needed to be renovated, re-stained and re-polished.
Sadly I don’t have any photos of the “before” but look at it now after our friend Omiros has worked his magic on our set in his Cyprus antiques shop!
Now we’re all set for entertaining our friend Kathy when she arrives next weekend. Woo Hoo!
