Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

Full meat meze for 2 update – Kourion Beach Restaurant.

You may recall a couple of months ago seeing my post that I’d recently purchased a Daily Deals CY voucher for a full meat meze including a bottle of wine for €20 for 2 people at Kourion Beach Restaurant….

Our photo was used in the Daily Deals CY advertisement for Kourion Beach meze offer.

So now, I finally got around to putting up my photos!

We went with our good friends Helen & Dave and couldn’t decide on the wine. So we went for one we hadn’t tasted before called Ambelida (Αμβελιδα). Remember, this was a bottle between 2 people but we chose to drink one and take one home with us to share on another occasion as each couple had to drive back home afterwards and drinking in the middle of the afternoon is not good (for me anyway).

Well the Ambelida (white wine) was so nice that we decided to swap it for the Panteleimon which we already had on order!

And so, the meze began….

Bread, the usual dips of tzantziki, tahini, houmous, taramasalata (not my favourite) and salad soon arrived followed closely by halloumi, lountza, village sausage (although Marinos cheated and gave us some kind of a German sausage instead! Lamb chop, pork souvlaki, belly pork, afelia, stifado and chicken all arrived too making us rather full up at that time in the early evening. Good job we had the swim in the sea beforehand 🙂

Oh, and did I mention – chips? Good old patates tiganites (πατάτες τηγανητές) or fried potatoes to you and me.

The start of the Meze supply.

Clem’s plate – for starters, with Marinos’ German replacement sausage!

So, if you fancy a Cyprus meze with a difference – head off to Kourion Beach Restaurant (Curium Beach), the first restaurant you come to as you arrive on the beachfront road.

And if being served by Marinos “the best waiter in Cyprus” isn’t enough of an enticement to visit the beach at Curium (near Episkopi)  then why not visit some of the ancient ruins there too?

And just for the record, the 2nd bottle of Ambilida we drank one afternoon quite recently while it was very well chilled with a picnic on the beach to celebrate a certain Mr Woolley’s birthday 😉 Definitely a wine we will look out for in the future!

Altogether – excellent value for money!
