Fylde Coast Musings vs Cyprus Life – in pictures

Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas at the beginning of March 2004 and spent the next glorious 12 years in Limassol, Cyprus. Sadly, in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We now live on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea just across from Fleetwood. More places to discover and capture on camera!

Woo Hoo!

So on Friday 22nd June we had a win to celebrate…. We finally won the quiz at the Angel Bar in Kolossi after lots of times of coming in second place.

Our final score of 88.5 put our team (Table for Six) 17 points in front of the second placed team (Spitties).

I took a photo of the tv screen with the scoreboard but it’s a bit too bright. Use a zoom button and you will see it more clearly.

The Winners – 22 June 2012 at the Angel Bar.

The Angel Bar hosts a quiz night every other Friday. Teams can be up to a maximum of 6 players and it costs €1 per team member to play.

First prize is a cash prize (ours was €30 last week) and is based on the number of people entering the quiz.

There’s a runner up prize and also a prize for the team with the lowest score.

During the quiz rounds, Elaine one of the hosts sells raffle tickets for an additional prize which rolls over to the next quiz if not won.

Whoever’s ticket is drawn then gets the chance to answer an individual question for the big cash prize. It’s currently at over €100.

The ticket holder first has choose 3 out of 5 envelopes.
On each envelope is written the type of question ie: sport, music, general knowledge etc.
Then they must choose a single envelope to reveal the question.
Only that person gets to read the question and must answer it alone – so no pressure!

If they get the question correct, they win the cash – it’s as simple as that….

If they cannot answer it, Paul the Quizmaster will read the question out to see if anyone knows the answer – this part is just for fun as already the cash pot has increased ready for the next quiz.

And there’s more…… One more ticket is drawn and the prize is a meal for 2 to be taken any time you like at the Angel Bar! We won a few weeks ago and we decided to share our prize with our friends/quiz mates, Helen and Dave. Basically we just split the cost of the additional 2 meals between the 4 of us.

I had chicken fillet in a garlic and 3 mustards sauce with chips and salad. It was delicious and there was loads of it. My husband Clement had grilled pork chop and both Helen and Dave had pork in a cream sauce. We were all very impressed with the food but be aware you may have to wait as all meals are individually prepared and cooked to order. Allow 30 minutes to an hour if more than two of you are eating together.

Mine host Pambos offers an extensive menu at the Angel Bar from snacks to full meals. I am happy to recommend it, having eaten there on more than one occasion…

From the week commencing 2nd July – the Angel Bar Quiz will be on Thursday evening instead of Friday due to bowling commitments at the Aphrodite Club in Erimi. So for the next few weeks, we will probably not be participating as it’s a “school night” 😦

The Angel Bar was formerly the Kolossi Steak House and is located at the Kolossi end of the road (F628) if heading towards Akrotiri village and RAF base on the (B6) Old Limassol/Paphos Road. It’s the road that takes you to Kolossi Castle.
