Did you know that Cyprus has a very famous geological sequence?
Find out about our Troodos ophiolite and the events on how our island was formed.
Originally, the island we now live on was actually on the bottom of the sea bed. Strange, but true!
Okay, it was about 90 million years ago but hey, who’s counting when you live on something as famous of the Troodos Massif and it’s renowned impact on the geology world in general. Let’s face it – we’re sitting on a piece of living history….
You can blame it on those dodgy tectonic plates that are ultimately responsible for the earth tremors you experience from time to time – the African and the Eurasian plate.
