Phobos Grunt is down – Sunday 15th January 2012
Did I speak too soon? Final 60 minutes of Phobos Grunt orbit and getting nearer to Cyprus and Greece. See below:
Europe is safe today! The path of the satellite seems to be taking in North & South America and the Philippines. A big difference from yesterday’s trail. Check out the image below on twitter:
Update Saturday 14th January 2012
With less than 29 hours to go before Phobos Grunt is predicted to fall out of the sky, it’s time to keep looking skywards and see if you can spot it. The satellite passed south of Cyprus between Alexandria in Egypt and close to Mersin on mainland Turkey a short time ago. Check out the live satellite tracker on the twitter link below:
7th January 2012
It seems to have gone a little quiet regarding the next piece of space junk that is about to descend on Mother Earth.
Predictions were originally stated as being between 6th and 19th January 2012 when the monster would land. We’re fast approaching that first date and it seems nobody is any the wiser.
So, where is the Phobos Grunt Russian satellite right now?
