Kinder European Challenge – 27 marathons, 27 days in 27 EU member states!

Nathan Farrugia has completed his 27th marathon run in Limassol, Cyprus today!

Nathan will fly back to his native country of Malta tomorrow on Emirates flight number EK2107 from Larnaca.

TWENTY seven marathons in 27 days across 27 EU member states – This is the epic challenge currently being undertaken by one man to highlight the 2011 European year of volunteering.

That man is Maltese endurance athlete Nathan Farrugia, who yesterday completed his 24th consecutive marathon since he set off on September 11 as part of the Kinder European Endurance Challenge, a charity event aimed to support children’s charities and foster solidarity among EU nations.

By the time you have read this, will likely have completed his 25th and raised close to €26,000 for nine charities, including Inspire, the Daniel Delicata Memorial Foundation in Malta, DPS Wadowice in Poland; Cliniclowns in the Netherlands and Belgum and The Children’s Society in the UK.

The 27 countries are: Malta, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and finally, Cyprus.
