There’s something about the talks going on over the last few days about the phone hacking and the anticipated payout over the Millie Dowler case that unsettles me.
The talk is of a payout in the sum of some £3m.
But to be honest, I don’t see how any money will help the Dowler family nor do I feel they or anyone should profit from the tragic death of their child.
I do agree the phone hacking has been a terrible scandal and most certainly traumatic for those who have been or may personally be affected by it in the future.
There could still be many more stories to come out of the hacking and I’m positive they will never all come to light but poor Millie is dead and she can no longer be hurt or damaged by the revelations.
I don’t know what the answer is, all I know is I feel very strongly about it all.
The News of the World should be made to pay but doling cash out in this manner to families just feels like “pay off and keep quiet” and quite frankly, it stinks.
I’m sure the money could be put to better use elsewhere.
Maybe the Dowler’s have their own ideas on some good use for the money, should they choose to accept the “deal” as it has been referred to. I would like to think so…..
