Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

Back to Egypt – the plan

Every so often Egypt beckons us back to her and next year it looks like we will try to meet up with our friend, Kathy whilst she’s out there cruising the Nile…

The plan is to go with friends who have not yet visited Cairo so very soon I need to start checking out the best way for us to “do” Cairo and arrive in time for the Wednesday cruise departure from Luxor. We hope to take in Cairo first, followed by a weeks cruise Luxor / Aswan / Luxor and then fly back to Cairo and home to Cyprus.

We’re planning to sail on the Jaz Regency cruise boat operated by Travcotels.

So it looks like a Sunday evening departure from Cyprus as long as there are flights leaving on that day.

I know Egyptair doesn’t fly everyday from Cyprus so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that Sunday is on the schedule. Otherwise, we may have to rethink “the plan”.

We’ve told our friends about the wonderful places to see in Cairo – not just the pyramids and the Cairo Museum as everyone believes.

We absolutely love the Sound & Light Show at the Giza plateau and cannot miss the Solar Boat by the side of the Great Pyramid.

Of course no trip to Cairo should miss the exotic sights, sounds and smells of the Khan El-Khalili bazaar  🙂
Below is just one very small part of it!

What made me write this post today of all days?

I found a fabulous website after following a link from twitter by NatGeo Traveller called “Top 10 Underground Walks” which led me to the Great Pyramid of Giza information and onward to Egypt Travel.

That’s my life on the internet – one thing always leads to another!
