I work just over the road from one of the many entrances to the large cemetery behind St. Nicholas church on Griva Dighenis, Limassol and I’m finding I’m becoming quite enthralled by it.
The amount of time and effort that is dedicated by families tending the graves of their loved ones as well as the staff who are there on a regular basis is really astonishing.
This is one of the largest cemeteries I’ve come across in Limassol, other than the one in Ayios Athanasios but I’m constantly taken aback by the different headstones, photographs, oil lamps and the colours that capture my eye as I walk by.
This morning I decided to park my car at a different entrance and walked through just one small corner. Below are some of the photographs I took.
It got me thinking….. “Why can’t we look after our cemeteries in this way in the UK?”
What do you think?
