Cyprus Life – in pictures vs Fylde Coast Musings

Our new life in Cyprus began in early March 2004. Originally from a small mill town in Heywood, Lancashire (United Kingdom) we moved overseas spending a glorious 12 years in Limassol. Feel free to read my posts and view my many #photosofCyprus. However in 2016 we had to return permanently to UK due to family ill health. We're now living on the Fylde coast where the river Wyre meets the Irish sea in the north west of England. More places for us to discover as this part of the UK is not so familiar to us either.

My half day – a swim, strangers & a dead cat.

I have a half day off work each Wednesday and as a rule, they’re not particularly exciting

Our original plans changed so we decided to make a break for it and head off to the local swimming pool. Armed with towels, mobile phones, a bottle of water and Jack Reacher (I wish šŸ˜‰ ) on my Kindle – off we went to the pool for a pleasant couple of hours.

It’s the 1st June and finally it seems summer has arrived in Cyprus so, that was it… I just had to have a dip in the pool – TWICE šŸ™‚

Just to prove it, Clem took a photo on my phone (not the best photo in the world though)!

A rare sight for early June!

Those who know me well are aware that I really don’t “do” cold – so this photo may come as a bit of a shock! It’s most unusual to find me in a swimming pool before the end of June. The sea, yes – but I find pools are generally colder and tend to stay away until they warm up.

On the way back we got a phone call from some people who we should have met up with earlier in the day. Quite by chance we were on the same road as them so it was a case of a flashing of the car headlights, pulling over to the side of the road and a quick meet up with these total strangers. Fairly typical of Cyprus…

When we got back home hubby informed me we had a dead cat in the stairwell at the side of the house and it needed shifting šŸ˜¦ So, armed with the spade and a few strong rubbish bags we ventured into the stairwell. Ugh, it whiffed a bit.

We do know the cat, a big scruffy stray tom that we’ve seen around for several years on the spare land to the side of our house and in our stairwell. It looks like he went somewhere familiar to die, poor beggar.

So all in all, it turned out to be a rather eventful but sad day.
