So not only can the so called hunters of Cyprus be let loose with their macho shotguns through the year, they’re now considering if they should be allowed to cull the protected Cyprus Moufflon.
Only with a licence, of course – and we know that not many take note of where they are not allowed to shoot. You only need to look at the road signs to see they’ve been shot at!
Which part of the word “protected” is not being understood here?

It’s interesting to read this short description from an animal welfare page from a website based in the north of Cyprus (often referred to as not having the welfare of anything Cyprus related at heart).
“The reclusive Cypriot Moufflon, an indigenous wild mountain sheep that was hunted to the verge of extinction and now survives with an estimated 200 breeding pairs in the protected reserve of the Paphos Forest Station, in the South Cyprus.“Culling could be on the cards for moufflon – Cyprus Mail.
If the ruling goes ahead you may soon only be able to see the Cyprus Moufflon in this format in the near future:
